The Forensic Healthcare Service at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust are seeking to appoint a Reception & Security Team Leader.
We are seeking a compassionate and innovative Team Lead to provide leadership in all aspects of Clinical Security at the Hellingly and Chichester Centre. Taking a leading role in ensuring standards for Forensic mental Health services (Low and Medium secure care) are met, leading on the reduction of restrictive interventions and helping to prevent closed culture practices.
A key function of the role will be to promote the concept of Relational Security whilst working collaboratively with the patients we serve to ensure a safe environment for effective mental health treatment and care.

Main duties of the job
Lead, develop and co-ordinate Security strategy and Security policies and procedures and present to Forensic Healthcare Security Committee in keeping with Trust Governance processes as required.
Promote the concepts of Relational, Procedural and Physical Security within the Forensic Healthcare Service (FHS), ensuring that this supports the care pathways of service users.
Provide current, evidence-based practice to provide the highest standards of Clinical Security to the multidisciplinary teams.
Provide advice and training to ward-based staff on the concepts of Security Management. Work closely with multidisciplinary teams in the assessment and management of risks posed by service users based on best security and clinical practice.
Lead on preparation and demonstrate readiness for external reviews of security (including Peer Reviews, CQC inspections etc).
Work with the Estates & Facilities Department and external agents to ensure the buildings are maintained to a high standard of repair and take a proactive approach in the on-going maintenance programme of the Service.
Lead locally on Multi-agency emergency/disaster response preparedness including written plans, training, and exercises.
Lead locally on ensuring that the Physical Security Document is reviewed, and updated as required.
About us

The Hellingly Centre is a medium and low secure Forensic mental health hospital for men and women over the age of 18 who have mental health problems and are involved with the criminal justice system. 3 wards are medium secure and 1 ward is low secure. The service works to ensure that patients are assessed and treated effectively in accordance with the Mental Health Act (MHA) 1983 amended 2007 and Mental Health code of practice, as well as reducing risk to others and supporting their recovery and safe discharge into the community. The Chichester Centre is a low secure hospital for people who need rehabilitation and treatment within a low secure environment. It has 3 wards; 2 male and 1 female. The aim is to rehabilitate patients back into a community either independently or supported as soon as it is safe to do so in accordance with the MHA and MH Code of practice. Travel easily between coast and countryside, with a blend of picturesque villages and seaside towns. With easy access to Gatwick and Heathrow and excellent railway links across the UK there is plenty of opportunity for adventure.Our organisation is rated 'good' overall and 'outstanding' for caring by the Care Quality Commission. Represent the interests of the reception and security service at the relevant governance meetings and forums within the service as part of the Hellingly Centre Leadership Team.
Work flexibly where required to ensure maintenance of reception services and security across the Forensic Healthcare Service.
