Job summary

Are you a passionate, hardworking, friendly and experienced Mental Health Nurse Leader looking for a new opportunity within Acute care? Looking for a Band 8a Clinical Nurse Leadership role? We are looking for a Matron to join our wonderful hospital, covering two of our wards and Place of Safety alongside both the leadership and ward teams. You will work alongside one other Matron whom covers our OPMH ward and ECT, together to lead high quality care and governance.

You will oversee the governance and quality for both inpatient wards and provide expertise and advice to the clinical team as appropriate. Working closely with the Ward Manager's, MDT and wider trust networks.

You will oversee Maple and Rowan Ward which are 17 bedded working age wards. Both wards are mixed gender and operate with open doors. Maple Ward also has the POS linked to it which consists of a secure outdoor space, separate accommodation, assessment and office space.

Main duties of the job

  • Working with the MDT to ensure patients receive the highest quality care possible, including, but not exclusive to, coordinated care, smooth transitions, privacy and dignity, nutritional, spiritual and cultural needs being met
  • Ensuring the patient and carer voice remains heard through frequent feedback
  • Overseeing safer staffing levels
  • Empowering nurses and overseeing supervision standards
  • Ensuring that clinical environments are maintained at a high level of cleanliness
  • Supporting Staff Wellbeing and retention
  • Networking with colleagues across the trust to maintain good relationships
  • Complete an 'On call' manager shift once a month
  • Provide clinical and managerial supervision
  • Oversee ward budgets alongside team leaders
  • Engage in Quality Improvement projects and co-production
