Job summary

Mental Health Urgent Care Services are looking to recruit Band 5 nurses to an 18-month development post which will further lead to a substantive Band 6 position upon demonstration of reaching the core competencies required for the role. The successful candidates will work under the supervision of a band 7 team lead, initially in CRHTT for 9 months, and will then move to gain experience in Mental Health Liaison for a further 9-month period.

If you are a Band 5 Registered Mental Health Nurse with post registration experience, or are newly or soon to be qualified RMN this would be a great opportunity to work in our Urgent Care Services.

This supported development role will enable you to obtain the knowledge, skills and competences in urgent care nursing, gaining assessment and risk assessment skills and working with a multi-agency team. If you are aspiring for a band 6 post in urgent care services in the future, this development post is for you.

Main duties of the job

CRHTT and MHLT are an integral to our urgent care pathway and ensuring people presenting in crisis or have acute mental health needs receive a compassionate, person-centred assessment and timely care plan whether this occurs in the Emergency Department or ward of a General Hospital or in their own home. The successful candidate will need to achieve agreed competences before being offered a band 6 urgent care practitioner post.

Successful candidates will be supported throughout the rotation in the following ways:

  • Preceptorship in placements with a bespoke personal development plan with agreed and defined learning outcomes
  • Access to training and relevant shadowing opportunities.
  • Be line-managed by the Team leader in each placement
  • Receive regular managerial supervision from their Team Leader and be given opportunities to participate in individual and group supervision.
  • Be part of Reflective Practice Group
