Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a number of Band 5 nurses to work in the Woodlands Centre for Acute Care in St Leonards-on-Sea.We are a busy 23-bed Acute unit split into male and female wards, which sit alongside a brand new health-based place of safety ('136 suite') which is scheduled to open in early 2022. All are set within the Woodlands Acute unit Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust Hastings. We are looking for staff nurses to work in all areas.

Main duties of the job

The wards have undergone recent structural changes in order to provide a safe environment for both patients and staff. Current feedback from patients tells us that the provision is a great improvement and allows staff to be out in the ward environment with the patients and have the time to nurse, which has a major positive impact on patient recovery time. Patient C's comments stated that 'this is the best inpatient stay I have had and now I am ready to go home feeling heard and valued'.

Our Trust has just been upgraded by CQC as GOOD in every domain and EXCELLENT in the CARING domain. Due to this we are now the third leading Mental Health Trust in the country. We will strive to maintain our standards and always improve where we can.

To protect the health and safety of our staff/workers, patients, and those attending our sites, we encourage our workforce to get fully vaccinated against COVID.

About us

Our patients are keen for new nurses joining the team to demonstrate empathy, time to talk and listen. We are very proud of our standards and are looking for someone who is ready to learn andkeen to develop. Also an important attribute is the ability to adapt to evolving change in order to facilitate excellent clinical care.

In addition, in November 2018, Woodlands was recognised at the Trust's Positive Practice awards with a Gold medal in the Team Award (clinical) category, an outstanding achievement for the team.

This post offers The Trust's Golden Hello for band 5 or 6 Nurses, or a Relocation package up to a maximum of £2000. (pro rata applies and subject to terms and conditions. Please see attached Protocol document).

We encourage flexible working. We know that a positive work/ life balance brings about huge health-related benefits, which has a positive impact on the care we provide. Please speak to us about flexible working, for example, home-working, part time hours, flexible start/ finish times or anything else. If it works for you and works for the role, we'll do our best to make it happen.
