Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Occupational Therapist at Langley Green Hospital. You will be part of a friendly and supportive Occupational Therapy Team. You will assess the occupational therapy needs of the client group and deliver 1:1 and group interventions accordingly on Opal Ward. The role will also include supporting and identify service users for the Home First Project and liaising with other professionals to support safe and timely discharge.

Main duties of the job

You will need skills in biopsychosocial assessment, risk management and knowledge of the impact physical and mental health challenges can have on an older person's functioning within daily activities.

We are looking for someone with a passion for working with older adults and for developing good working relationships with service users, carers and family. You will work closely with a wide range of services, so forging close relationships will be important.

You will supervise junior staff and support the Senior OT in contributing to service development

As part of the team you will also be expected to make an ongoing contribution to the team and the community we serve. A willingness to work as a team member is a core requirement of the role. You will also demonstrate both experience and a strong commitment to working with people with complex needs and the development of the therapeutic programme on offer.

About us

You will be working as part of a Multi-disciplinary team (MDT) including psychologists, nurses, occupational therapists, support workers, peers and medics. We will be providing opportunities to work with people with severe and enduring mental health problems, and their carers/families.

You will receive good support, supervision/reflective practice and training opportunities.

We encourage flexible working. We know that a positive work/ life balance brings about huge health-related benefits, which has a positive impact on the care we provide. Please speak to us about flexible working, for example, home-working, part time hours, flexible start/ finish times or anything else. If it works for you and works for the role, we'll do our best to make it happen.

The post is suitable for pre and post preceptorship applicants.
