Job summary
We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist in Medical Psychotherapy for an exciting post to support the expansion of Complex Emotional and Relational Needs and Personality Disorder provision in Brighton & Hove.
This is a newly established post to provide Consultant input to the Complex Emotional and Relational Needs (CERN) Team in Brighton & Hove in a community setting. The post-holder will have leadership role in CERN, with a particular role overseeing outreach into primary care and other services.

Main duties of the job
As well as the leadership component of the CERN team, you will form a central part of the Psychologically Informed Consultation and Training (PICT) team, working within primary care and other settings to bring expertise in complex emotional and relational needs. You will also play a key role in the development of Service User Network (SUN) groups, a provision for service users across the tiers with complex emotional and relational needs.
The post also has a significant Medical and Multi-professional Education component. You will be a Balint Group Leader for groups of doctors and BSMS Medical Students, supervise doctors training in psychiatry undertaking psychotherapy cases, and clinicians from other professional backgrounds undertaking psychotherapy training.
You will develop and deliver teaching material to primary care and secondary care clinicians, and be involved in Trustwide teaching around psychotherapeutic approaches to mental and physical health, personality disorder, integrated and collaborative care and complex emotional and relational needs.
