Job summary

We are delighted to be offering a new and unique Band 7 Clinical Psychology opportunity in two Child Development Centre's. This is a substantive post for Neurodevelopmental assessments, split across Worthing Child Developmental Centre (0.5) and Mid-Sussex Child Development Centre in Haywards Heath (0.4) This post forms part of a new West Sussex-wide neurodevelopmental service, currently under design and travel will be required to other localities in West Sussex.

Main duties of the job

We are very proud of our strong links between CAMHS and the CDC and our extremely friendly and enthusiastic multi-disciplinary staff. Based in Worthing and Mid Sussex CDC's this post will work with Community Paediatricians and Speech and Language Therapists to provide assessment, formulation and consultation specifically for autistic spectrum disorders. The applicant should have previous experience and training in autistic spectrum assessments, the Autism Diagnostic Observational Schedule (ADOS-2) and cognitive assessments.

About us

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team offering assessments and interventions to children and young people experiencing severe and enduring psychological distress in the context of their mental health needs.

The successful candidate will receive regular supervision from the Senior Clinical Psychologist within the team alongside development and support from Principle Clinical Psychologists in the wider service .

There are regular opportunities to link with other Hampshire CAMHS Clinical Psychologists across the service, as well as access training opportunities offered by Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust.

CAMHS services recognise that young people may be affected by challenges to their emotional wellbeing and mental health at all times. With this in mind our responses are required to be dynamic and needs led,. As part of our exciting transformation agenda colleagues may be required to work outside of the 9.5 working pattern .

Qualifications

Essential

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in applied psychology [or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996 or outside the UK], including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as approved by the HPC
  • Professionally registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Professions Council (HPC)

Knowledge/Experience

Essential

  • Experience of specialist psychological working (assessment, formulation and treatment) with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, inpatient and residential care settings, maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of applied psychology.
  • Knowledge and skills in neuropsychology.
  • Experience of the application of applied psychology in different cultural contexts and experience of working within a multicultural framework
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HPC.
