Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with a passion for working with this client group. You need to be caring, compassionate and a good communicator, with a commitment to improving the lives of our service users through creative, evidence-based practice. You will need to be flexible and adaptable as modern mental health services are constantly changing in response to best practice. As a lead practitioner you will be responsible for working collaboratively with service users and their carers on your caseload to create care plans that meet their needs and maximise their independence.

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate previous experience of specialist assessment skills, an ability to effectively manage and reduce risk, inclusive care and treatment planning as well as robust caseload management. The interventions offered by the service are time limited and recovery focussed with a plan to transfer the case elsewhere within the service or to an external partner.

You will promote and develop the role of Occupational Therapy within the clinical area with the support of the Specialist Occupational Therapist and the wider MDT. You will be actively encouraged and supported to implement evidence- based practice changes, and develop own knowledge and experience, as well as educating the rest of the Multi-Disciplinary Team on the role of the OT.

About us

The successful candidate will provide effective guidance, supervision and appraisals for junior staff. Previous experience of this is preferred although not essential.

In return the successful applicant will be supported by a professional, highly motivated and caring MDT. You will be provided with regular OT clinical supervision and peer support. You will have access to training opportunities to assist you to realise your potential and achieve a greater degree of job satisfaction. As a Trust employee you will enjoy the standard NHS annual leave entitlement and pension schemes. We offer and support flexible working and part time working, and encourage those looking to develop their own learning and career development to apply.

We encourage flexible working. We know that a positive work/ life balance brings about huge health-related benefits, which has a positive impact on the care we provide. Please speak to us about flexible working, for example, home-working, part time hours, flexible start/ finish times or anything else. If it works for you and works for the role, we'll do our best to make it happen.
