Principal grade Clinical Psychologist (part time permanent post, band 8b) for Dementia Assessment Service South
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified, HCPC registered Clinical psychologist/Neuropsychologist to join our Dementia Assessment Service based in Worthing. The post is for 2.5 days a week, however there is flexibility to offer 3 days a week.. The applicant should be enthusiastic and committed to working with people with dementia and their families. The West Sussex Dementia Assessment Service provides diagnostic assessment and post diagnostic interventions for people with suspected dementia.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to provide specialist neuropsychology assessment and support the delivery of diagnosis to individuals and their families/carers. In addition, you will support neuropsychological practice within the team through consultation, supervision, formulation and training.

The successful applicant will join a friendly, highly-skilled and enthusiastic community of applied psychologists within West Sussex and a broader, highly experienced network of old age specialists across Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. As an experienced Practitioner Psychologist, you will have opportunities to supervise Clinical Psychology trainees from the University of Surrey as well as Assistant Psychologists, Band 8a Psychological therapists and Psychology Interns/undergraduates where available.

- Significant assessed experience of working as a qualified psychologist.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, in-patient and residential care settings severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care coordinator and also within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan
- Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology.
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group.
- Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of highly specialised psychological therapies and assessment methodologies.
- Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC.
- Formal training in supervision of other psychologists.
- High level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies.
- Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision.
- Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care.
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
