Job summary

We have a fantastic development opportunity for 2 committed and enthusiastic Band 5 Speech and Language Therapists eager to undertake dysphagia training which on completion will lead to Band 6 roles within the team. You will be joining our expanding Community Learning Disability Teams based in Worthing and Horsham, West Sussex. (Please clarify in your application if you have a preferred location). Our ideal applicants are people who are passionate about working with people with a learning disability to improve their life experiences.

Our Community Learning Disability Teams are multi-disciplinary and work to meet the health and wellbeing needs of adults who have a learning disability. We also work closely and are based with Adult Social Care.

The varied and interesting clinical work is mostly in the community so you will need to be able to travel betweenlocations in a timely manner.

You would be joining a dynamic speech and language therapy team with a national profile and a commitment to continuing professional development. We provide frequent specialist supervision and peer support networks and an environmentwhere innovative and progressive practice are encouraged.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an clinician who is committed to improving the lives of people who have a learning disability and who need support with their communication and/or eating and drinking.

We are keen to hear from more recently qualified speech and language therapists who have an interest in this fascinating and rewarding area of work. The succesful applicants will be expected to achieve the required dysphagia competencies, after which they will advance to a Band 6 role. Sponsorship and support will be given for this.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Recognised Speech & Language Therapy Degree/Masters qualification or equivalent.
  • Health Professions Council - licence to practice
  • Registered member of Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists.

EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge of assessment tools relevant to the client group
