Mental Health Practitioner (Emotional Wellbeing Service - Brighton)

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

The Brighton and Hove Emotional Wellbeing Service (B&H EWS) is seeking to recruit TWO Band 6 Nursing, OT, or Social Work mental health practitioners to its growing team based in the city's six Primary Care Networks (PCNs).

This exciting service works closely with voluntary sector partners and GPs to provide accessible, high quality clinical consultation, assessment, and tailored one-to-one mental health interventions right on the GP practice doorstep. Our prompt interventions provide a vital safety net for people who are at real risk of falling into the gaps between traditional services.

The people we work with are usually unable to access IAPT services, and may not meet the threshold for secondary care. However, we have excellent links to other teams locally to ensure people move seamless if we aren't best placed to help them. This includes other SPFT community teams (ATS, Wellbeing etc.) and third sector partners.

Main duties of the job

The B&H EWS is a cornerstone of the city's community mental health transformation. You will work in the GP PCN but benefit fully from being part of the SPFT family, with excellent training, support, and supervision as standard.

Working with us, you will encounter people with a range of mental health needs. As a Band 6 practitioner you will be sufficiently skilled and experienced to engage, assess, and work with them over 6-8 sessions to find the right pathway to support. You will communicate closely with service users, GPs, secondary care services, carers, and voluntary sector networks. You will make sure that people's needs are fully understood at the earliest point, providing a bridge between primary and secondary care when necessary.

Your interventions will be vital to preventing deterioration in previously stable patients, supporting people to get to the right services, and supporting GPs and voluntary sector colleagues to provide safe, evidence-based mental health support.

About us

Sussex Partnership places a huge focus on the wellbeing of our staff, and ensures our reward packages reflect the immensely important work they do. We know that a positive work / life balance brings about massive health-related benefits, which has a positive impact on the care we provide. Please speak to us about flexible working, for example: home-working, part time hours, flexible start or finish times, or anything else. If it works for you and works for the role, we'll do our best to make it happen.

Your benefits:

  • Access to full psychological support via our internal wellbeing team
  • Excellent supervision programmes, with ongoing opportunities for training and development
  • Access to a host of discount schemes, and excellent NHS pension
  • Generous holiday entitlement (starting at 27 days plus bank holidays, increasing with continuous NHS service)
  • A 'Golden Hello' or relocation package for non-SPFT staff of up to £2000 (see attached documentation for terms and conditions)
