Job summary

To be part of an Award Winning Service delivering drop in and brief support to young people within East Sussex.The scope of the role includes:

  • Overseeing staff and providing support during the opening hours of the project, with particular responsibility for managing presentations with complex health and social care needs, including those service users presenting with higher levels of risk.
  • Conducting triage of young people who access the project, demonstrating an understanding of wellbeing issues affecting young people aged 14 - 25 and to offer signposting and advice where required by facilitating sessions and individual activities.
  • Information gathering to allow effective multiagency support planning, to assess and manage risk in collaboration with the services user, project staff and partnership agencies.
  • Providing advice and resources; through an offer of brief interventions. Applying sensitive approaches when handling issues pertaining to confidentiality, information sharing, consent, the rights of young people and the responsibilities of parents and carers.
  • Taking a lead to ensure there is a continuing contribution to the development of approaches in working with young people with support needs. This includes mental health, wellbeing, education, employment and training and homelessness.
  • Undertaking any other tasks commensurate with the grading of the post.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide high-quality drop-in support as Co-ordinator of the i-Rock team, informed by skills in communication, analysis of information, planning and excellent organisational skills.
  • To ensure the smooth running of the project by working flexibly according to the needs of the project.
  • To communicate and liaise where appropriate with all other professionals involved in the individual client's treatment and on-going mental health care.
  • To improve wellbeing through brief support and encouraging access to other agencies that provides wellbeing initiatives and promotes social inclusion.
  • To lead on team development through sharing good practise both formally and informally.
  • To contribute to the maintenance and development of Trust strategies where appropriate.
  • To ensure that practice is evidence based and consistent with NICE guidelines and Trust policies and procedures.
  • To have an understanding of Trust objectives, relevant Commissioning Data Sets objectives and service level objectives and have a commitment to achieving these objectives.
  • To provide supervision to junior staff, trainees and students where appropriate.
  • To act within your Professional Code of Conduct and Practice, if affiliated, at all times.
  • To keep current your professional registration and fulfil revalidation requirements as required if affiliated.
