Job summary

We are seeking to recruit a passionate, knowledgeable and dynamic Occupational Therapist to join our Specialist Older Adults Mental Health Service (SOAMHS) providing community treatment to older adults based in the High Weald Lewes and Havens area.

This exciting role would be suitable for an enthusiastic band 5 Occupational Therapist with a passion for working with older adults who wants to work towards developing their competencies required for a band 6 post. We will provide you with the necessary support to develop your professional and clinical skills along with support and protected time to utilise and deliver occupational therapy specific assessment and intervention. We can offer you development opportunities that include developing your group planning and facilitation skills, utilising occupational formulation. You will have access to the Trust's AHP training (which includes sensory assessment and intervention, and ADL masterclasses).

You will be an integral member of the MDT supported by a strong professional leadership structure with regular OT clinical supervision, regular management supervision with your operational lead as well as regular peer support.

This is a full-time post on a permanent contract. We encourage staff who are also looking for a job share/ flexible working or part time post to apply. This post would suit experienced staff looking to extend their experience of working in the community in a mental health setting.

Main duties of the job

As an Occupational Therapist in our busy multidisciplinary team you will be responsible for providing OT specific assessments, interventions and generic mental health interventions for older adults with a diagnosis of dementia or functional mental health problems either visiting them in their own homes or care homes. You will manage your own caseload and where appropriate be responsible for covering duty. You will be an important part of the MDT , contributing to the MDT discussions and team meetings.
