Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the central psychological professions (PP), leadership team working jointly with the Director and other Associate Director in providing professional leadership for the psychological professions.
We are a large directorate with approximately 870 staff working across all specialty areas. This includes applied psychologists, psychological therapists, psychotherapists, arts psychotherapists and a range of professional groups offering psychologically informed / low intensity psychological interventions.
The PP central leadership team provides senior professional leadership for these staff, leading and delivering on the central psychological professions strategy, as well as ensuring robust governance, training and practice development support is in place for all psychologists and psychological therapists in the Trust. Whilst different duties and responsibilities are split across the three directors according to interests and skills, the postholder will have a particular focus on Practice Development and Governance. The postholder will also contribute to other key Trust strategy and clinical development work in areas related the person's specialist expertise as well as hold a specialist case load.
The post would suit someone already used to working at a senior level in the psychological professions and who wants to take the next step in helping lead and shape the future direction of the psychological professions trust-wide.
Main duties of the job
To work as part of the core Psychological Professions (PP) Directorate, directly supporting the work of the Director, and providing professional leadership for all Psychologists and Psychological Therapists in the field of Practice Development and Governance. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Providing leadership and oversight of the Psychological Professions Practice Networks
- Setting clear professional standards for the psychological professions
- Leading on the creation of practice development and mentorship opportunities for all PP staff
To be responsible, supporting the Director and in collaboration with the other Associate Director for the Psychological Professions, for the professional leadership of PP - ensuring senior professional leadership, governance, training and practice development support for all psychologists and psychological therapists in the Trust. To hold a specialist case load. To contribute to other key Trust strategy and clinical development work in areas of the person's specialist expertise.

A major requirement of the job is to initiate, lead and carry out, audit, research and training programmes and to propose and implement policy and service development changes across the Trust.
