Job summary

We are seeking to recruit a passionate, knowledgeable and dynamic Occupational Therapist to join our Specialist Sussex-Wide Family Eating Disorder Service (SFEDS). SFEDS works with young people aged 10-18 with Anorexia Nervosa/ Bulimia Nervosa and Atypical Anorexia Nervosa and their families, and supports recovery through Evidence Based Interventions such as Maudsley Family Therapy models, group work, and CBT-E.

You will be joining a service of highly skilled and experienced Family and Systemic Psychotherapists, Psychiatry, Paediatrician, Clinical Psychologist and Assistant Psychologists, Nurses, Support Workers, Dietitian, and Social Workers with support from an outstanding administration team. Our team is responsible for covering all of Sussex, operating as a hub and spoke model with Crawley Down Health Centre as the main team hub.

Due to an exciting service expansion we are recruiting to a number of new positions, including an Occupational Therapist.

Main duties of the job

As an Occupational Therapist in the SFEDS Paediatric Liaison service, you will aim to reduce length of stay and facilitate safe discharge once physical health needs have been addressed. The role requires Multiagency working as well as sign posting and referral onto other services.

You will provide advice and consultation on appropriate mental health care planning to support a holistic care and discharge plan (including risk and safety) to acute care colleagues as a liaison function for young people with eating disorders that are admitted to acute paediatric wards. Training relevant to your post will be offered.
