Job summary
Applications are invited from Applied Psychologists for a permanent, full-time Band 8A post (37.5 hours per week) in the Brighton & Hove Specialist Community Rehabilitation Team. The post-holder will be part of the Specialist Community Rehabilitation Team in the Brighton & Hove Care Delivery Service, which provides secondary care community and acute mental health services for adults of all ages.
The Community Rehabilitation Team holds a caseload of around 80 people for long- and short-term interventions, and focuses on providing innovative recovery-focused mental health care to service users with complex mental health difficulties (mainly on the Psychosis Pathway).
Main duties of the job
The Community Rehabilitation Team has a strong working relationship with the residential rehabilitation unit in Brighton, and there will be opportunities for the post-holder to offer indirect psychological input to this service. The Community Rehabilitation Team places a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary team working and close working relationships with other local mental health services and community organisations. The post-holder will be expected to carry out complex psychological assessments and deliver evidence-based psychological interventions to clients and their families/carers, and there will also be opportunities for developing innovative psychological approaches to working with this client group. Psychological services in Brighton place a strong emphasis on co-production and drawing on the expertise of people with lived experience. The post-holder will also be expected to offer psychological consultation, supervision and training to the Community Rehabilitation Team, and to support the team to develop and use psychological thinking in their work. The successful candidate will be creative and flexible in adapting to change and able to educate and inspire others in working with people with complex mental health problems.
An interest in working with psychosis is an essential requirement for the post.

The postholder will be supported to carry out additional specialist training relevant to the post (e.g. CBT for Psychosis; Family Interventions for Psychosis being two examples), and there are regular CPD opportunities for psychologists in the Trust available. There will also be the opportunity for the postholder to have protected time to gain experience in other parts of Brighton community mental health services if this would be of interest to them.
