Clinical or Counselling Psychologist (Full time, band 7) Dementia and Older People's Mental health Service and Dementia Assessment Service, Chichester, Midhurst and Bognor, West Sussex
We are very excited to be advertising this new full-time Band 7 Psychology Practitioner post working with people with dementia and older people with mental health problems in Chichester, Midhurst and Bognor. You would be working alongside 3 other Clinical Psychologists who are all very experienced and would be able to provide a really supportive first post for someone who is recently qualified. The post would be suitable for an HCPC registered Psychology Practitioner with post-qualification experience, applications from psychologists who are due to qualify in Sept 2022 would also be very welcome.
This is a particularly exciting time to be joining our services, as we have recently reintegrated our dementia services with our secondary mental health services for older people. As such you will have the chance to build on core clinical skills in assessment and intervention, as well as contribute to developing our new service. The post-holder will ideally be familiar with working in an NHS setting.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will have the opportunity to work with people with a wide range of complex mental health problems, their families and carers. There is a lot of variety in the role as part of the post sits in the Community Mental Health Team (Dementia and Older People's Mental health - DOPMH) and part in the Dementia Assessment Service (DAS). There is therefore opportunity for direct and indirect psychological intervention with service users, carers/families and staff teams. These teams support people with complex mental health needs, those with dementia presenting with risk concerns and those who have suspected dementia and are seeking a diagnosis and/or post diagnostic support. We are keen to discuss with applicants how we can use their interests and experience to develop the role.
About us
The successful candidate will join a friendly, highly-skilled and enthusiastic community of psychologists in West Sussex Older Adult services. Our West Sussex Psychology services are very keen to offer development opportunities to our newly qualified staff. Our Trust has an exciting range of CPD opportunities and the post-holder will be encouraged to develop special interests and expertise in line with service and team objectives. We have set up a newly qualified peer support group and the Trust is focused on developing staff wellbeing initiatives.
We encourage flexible working. We know that a positive work/ life balance brings about huge health-related benefits, which has a positive impact on the care we provide. Please speak to us about flexible working, for example, home-working, part time hours, flexible start/ finish times or anything else. If it works for you and works for the role, we'll do our best to make it happen.
