Job summary
This is an opportunity to join an established IAPT service (Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies) providing a range of NICE compliant psychological therapies, including Step 3 High Intensity Psychological Interventions.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic band 6 or 7 Counsellor or Psychologist (depending on qualifications and experience).
- The main focus would be offering therapeutic interventions to a range of clients with anxiety and depression related problems, including those who present with more complex issues.
- The post holder would also provide information and advice to other mental health practitioners about counselling referrals
In addition the senior (band 7) counselling role would include:
- Offering clinical supervision to counsellors and trainees,
- Contributing to and taking responsibility for local service systems and developments under the guidance of the local clinical lead,
- Offering support and guidance to other counsellors regarding clinical work and service issues

Health in Mind has a reputation for clinical excellence, innovation and collaborative working. The multi-disciplinary team consists of CBT Therapists, Primary Care Counsellors/Psychologists, Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, Primary Care Mental Health Practitioners and Employment Advisors.
Although this post will be based in the Eastbourne, Hailsham and Seaford locality, as a part of Health in Mind you must be willing and able to travel throughout East Sussex as required.
As an 8-8 service, there is an expectation to provide a minimum of 20% of agreed clinical appointments out of normal working hours.
This is a substantive post at 30 hours a week which can be flexible, but will need to fit around availability of clinical space as well as meeting and supervision time.

Knowledge/Experience

- Post-qualification/accreditation experience in the delivery of specialist psychological therapy (assessment, formulation and treatment) across a range of presenting problems
- Demonstrable competence in the delivery of a psychological therapy and a track record of delivering positive outcomes in this therapy
- Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialist psychological therapy (as supported by IAPT services: Client centered, Psychodynamic, Integrative (including previous two models), EMDR, IPT etc)
- Demonstratable use of supervision
- Experience of the application of psychological therapy in different cultural contexts and experience of working within a multicultural framework
- Experience of representing psychological therapy within the context of multi-disciplinary care/NHS settings
- oExperience of working with the particular client group served by the team/service
