Job summary

Are you a qualified Speech & Language Therapist or a Speech & Language Therapy student qualifying and wanting to use your skills working with children, young people and their families?

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated qualified/qualifying speech & language therapist to join our experienced and friendly Blackburn with Darwen based locality team. Applications from those qualifying in the near future are welcomed.

We work with children and young people aged 0- 19 with well-developed and evidenced based pathways covering the needs of children with communication needs. The Children's Therapies Service has a strong network of Clinical Leads who offer clinical, management and safeguarding supervision. As a service we are committed to continued professional development which is supported through Speech & Language Therapy Forums.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of children's integrated therapy team providing a Speech & Language therapy service for children referred for assessment and intervention.

The post holder will be responsible for assessment of need, intervention and treatment provision as indicated for a wide variety of conditions (this may include chronic, complex, disabling life limiting and challenging illnesses) within the area of speech and language therapy.

The post holder will be responsible for the comprehensive assessment of children and young people with diverse presentations, using investigative and analytical skills, to formulate hypotheses in order to determine appropriate interventions and goals.

To establish individualized management and treatment plans, using clinical reasoning and utilizing a range of evidence based treatment skills and options to formulate interventions and programmes of care.

To participate in the delivery of training programmes and information packages for colleagues in health, education voluntary sector organisations, and parents / carers.
