Senior Occupational Therapist

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, enthusiastic and forward thinking qualified Occupational Therapist to join the West Lancs Home Based Treatment Team based at Ormskirk Hospital. The post will be supported under the supervision of a network Occupational Therapy Clinical Specialist. The fully aligned role will involve clinical Occupational Therapy provision working within a multidisciplinary team within the adult acute setting for service users experiencing mental health difficulties requiring home-based treatment.The successful candidate will provide Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions to service users to support recovery within home treatment. The successful candidate will also undertake supervision of junior staff and assist in local developments related to the Occupational Therapy services locally and across the footprint of Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be supported within Occupational Therapy Best Practice Forums and shadowing opportunities will be provided via Occupational Therapists working within other home-based treatment teams within the trust.

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who is enthusiastic about working within mental health and possesses good time management skills and a compassionate approach to others. The successful candidate will be an able team worker with excellent communication skills with experience of working successfully within busy environments. The post may have some working days/hours flexibility at the discretion of the team manager.   • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration
  • Student Educator Qualification and experience supporting undergraduate learners

Knowledge

  • Detailed knowledge of how mental health problems impact on occupational performance and how occupational therapy theory informs practice within community mental health settings
  • Knowledge of current best practice in community mental health and awareness of relevant government directives and legislation
  • Knowledge of current research in specialist area and ability to implement into practice.

  • Ability to demonstrate a significant level of experience within an Occupational Therapy a mental health setting
