Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Ward Manager to join our inpatient team within the Learning Disabilities and Autism care group.
As part of the development of Water Meadow View, our new state-of-the-art 14-bed facility for people with learning disabilities and mental ill health, you will be a key member of the mobilisation project team and take the lead on specific work streams, recruitment, and operating procedure development. Once the hospital opens, you will play a key role in the day-to-day delivery of high-quality care, reporting to the Modern Matron.
One of the Trust's aims is to deliver the best possible care to our patients, and this new inpatient unit will do just that. Water Meadow View will offer clinical excellence, support, and safety, with patient-centred care at its heart.
Working with the Modern Matron, the post holder will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality care and patient experience within the care group's inpatient settings through proactive clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary staff at all levels within their clinical area of responsibility.
The post holder will ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based, compassionate, person-centred care and ensure that care delivered is in a safe and clean environment.
This is an exciting post that allows for close working and collaboration with senior management and clinicians and will be an integral part of the Nursing and Quality Team.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have leadership experience, exceptional communication skills, motivational and influencing skills, and be able to encourage teams to work across organisational boundaries whilst holding patient care at the heart of their work.
The post holder will deliver on key responsibilities within the inpatient service:
- Using flexible and innovative approaches to practice that are appropriate to the needs of the client group and which are in line with the goals of the Trust.
- Promoting and developing a safe clinical area for patients' staff and visitors
- Being visible to all staff within the area, providing strong clinical and practice-based leadership.
- Ensuring supervision and co-ordination the professional work of nursing staff, complying with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- Ensuring the provision of planned individualised care, complying with Trust policies, procedures, locally agreed standards and NMC guidelines.
- Ensuring the provision of a robust Named Nurse framework of care delivery in keeping with locally agreed standards.
- Ensuring systems are in place to regularly monitor the budget within area of responsibility
- Being involved in the recruitment and selection, deployment and supervision of staff within area of responsibility. Ensuring that appropriate staffing levels and skill mix are available to meet thechanging needs of the service.
- Reporting any incidents, complaints and risks in the appropriate format and escalate when required.
