Job summary

A vacancy has arisen for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist within the Children's Community Learning Disability Team. The Children's Learning Disability Team is part of the all age learning disability service. We work closely with families, education, social care colleagues, respite services, advocacy and community services.

Our children's learning disability service is commissioned to support children and young people up to the age of 18. We are a multi-disciplinary team of nurses, psychologists, psychiatrists, and nursery nurses. We support families with sleep difficulties, self-care tasks, understanding their child's sensory needs and supporting engagement through meaningful activity. This may be through parent workshops or working directly with young people and their families. We provide specialist assessments to understand a young person's needs and work together to support these, including individual or group based approaches.

Main duties of the job

We support a seamless transition to the adult learning disability service following our transition pathway. We assist people to access mainstream health and mental health services supporting reasonable adjustments to allow young people with a learning disability to access them.

We work Monday to Friday between the core hours of 9am until 5pm, with some flexibility required on occasion to meet individual need and preferences.
