Job summary

Are you an experienced qualified paediatric/children's nurse? If so come and join our welcoming, friendly, dynamic and supportive team.

You will be NMC registered, and will have at least 3 years post qualification children's nursing experience including working with children with complex health needs in a multi-agency context. You will possess excellent clinical and communication skills and have an in depth knowledge and experience of a wide range of equipment used by technology dependant children. You will have good organisational skills and be able to work independently accessing supervision as required. You will be highly motivated and dedicated to evidenced based practice. The service provides support to families over a 24 hour period, 7 days per week. You need to have a flexible approach these may include traveling across the Lancashire footprint and Specialist Centres such as Alder Hey and Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. You will have to work some unsociable hours including night shifts. The service operates an on call service to support the families/staff.

We offer you the opportunity to join our specialist team, providing care and support to children and young people with complex health care needs. Your role will involve assessments, training and caseload management.

Main duties of the job

You will support a team of dedicated registered nurses and support workers, working with children, young people and their families, to provide support in meeting children's health needs at home and in other community settings.

You will benefit from excellent management and peer support, opportunities to work alongside specialists, a personal and professional development plan. Caseload management and staff supervision skills will be developed within the role. A robust individual induction plan will be available.

The post holder will work within the Children's Packages of Care team providing a nursing service for children who have been awarded a Package of care to be delivered by LSCFT.

The post holder will be responsible for a caseload of children and young people with complex and/or additional needs and work across a multi-agency team to provide a child centred package of care which meets the family's needs.

The post holder will promote the delivery of high quality, clinically effective care , prioritising and utilising research in every day practice.

To undertake comprehensive assessment of children and young people with varied presentations, using self-determined investigative and analytical skills, to formulate hypotheses in order to determine appropriate interventions and goals.

The post holder will be required to work across the Lancashire and South Cumbria footprint and across a shift pattern including some weekend and night working.
