Job summary

We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic people to join our team due to expansion within the service.

The Children's Packages of Care team care for children with very complex needs in the community, this could be at home, in school or out in the community.

The ideal candidates will have experience in a health care, social care or education setting working with children. An NVQ3 in care or equivalent care experience is desired, however full training will be given.

The service meets the needs of the families and this can vary, due to this the successful candidate will need to be flexible to meet the needs of the service: which will include working day shifts, nights and weekends.

Career pathway from HCSW to nursing associate is available to members of CPOC.

The team care for children across Lancashire, therefore only applicants with access to a vehicle for work purposes will be considered due to shift working and the large geographical area. We have bases in Burnley and a satellite base in Preston, mileage to shifts will be reimbursed if further than work base.

Due to this post's requirements to support female patients with carrying out their personal cares, applicants must be female. This role is compliant with the Equality Act 2010 (Schedule 9, Work: Exceptions, Part 1, Occupational requirements)

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate would benefit from working within LSCFT's Clinical Team of the Year, 2023!

You would need to be organised, able to work alone and part of a team, adaptable, calm in pressured situations and flexible to meet the needs of the service.

The assistant will work within a nursing discipline working with children with complex and additional needs in the community.

They will be an effective member of the additional and complex needs team.

The post holder will have significant experience with working with children.

The post holder will work under the direction of a qualified nurse within the Complex Needs Service. The Assistant will carry out treatment programmes/packages of care devised by the clinician independently or with other members of the integrated team. The post holder will work with an agreed range of clients, delivering an agreed range of treatment programmes/packages of care in an appropriate environment e.g. person's home, community settings.

The Assistant will be required to explain/demonstrate therapy/nursing activities to parents/carers and other professionals involved with the child. The post holder may be working on an individual basis or within a group setting.

The post holder will be required to make/develop and demonstrate resources that support the nursing activities, demonstrate safe and effective use of equipment and may be required to support delivery of training by the nursing team.
