Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the mental health access line. We are recruiting a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner to triage and respond to calls from ambulance and police calls. Such calls are triage from a response from blue light services in which a patient is presenting in a mental health crisis or condition. The role of the practitioner will be to access resources such as RIO to offer advice to the police or paramedic. The practitioner will also use the ambulance systems of C3 and triage calls coming directly to the ambulance services, close working with our NWAS colleagues is essential. The practitioner will also liaise with our LSCFT colleagues such as the IRS, HBT, CMHT and Frequent attenders team to gain best outcome for the patient. The practitioner will need to have quick decision making skills with experience in risk management.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide evidence based mental health assessments and/or signposting to alternative service provision for people who present requiring a specialist urgent mental health assessment. The post holder will be required to risk manage and help inform decision making to police and paramedics on scene.
