Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in this developing service. We are looking for a full time, Band 6 Social worker to work within Pennine Lancashire SPCMHT - LSCFT.

We are seeking applications from confident, enthusiastic and experienced social workers who are passionate about working in a perinatal service.

The successful candidate will hold an allocated caseload of socially complex cases working alongside senior clinicians and have responsibility for the delivery of high quality care. They will offer support and advice to the team and act as Safeguarding Champion, facilitating the team safeguarding supervision, supported by specialist safeguarding practitioners.

Although advantageous, there is no requirement to have previous perinatal experience, as training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

  • Pennine Specialist Perinatal CMHT aspires to provide excellent comprehensive Perinatal Mental Health Services for the women of Pennine Lancashire. We deliver a sustainable and resilient solution for women suffering from a mental illness in the perinatal period by focusing on improving outcomes for them, their infant and their families. We do this by effective multidisciplinary integrated team working and ensuring effective prevention that responds to local need.

More specifically:

  • The post holder will be an integral member of the multidisciplinary team within the team.
  • To participate in the ongoing development and maintenance of a quality region wide perinatal service through effective collaboration, liaison and prioritisation with statutory and non-statutory organisations.
  • Contributing to the building up of local care networks for mothers across Lancashire.
  • To work as a Member of the multidisciplinary team in partnership with service users and other professionals - managing complex packages of care for both mother and infant.
  • To act as an autonomous senior clinician being responsible for an allocated caseload.
  • To manage self and practice in accordance with Social Work England - recognising professional limitations, demonstrating ability to practice within ethical and legal frameworks with clear understanding of service users, carer's and their statutory rights.
