Job summary

Lancaster MHLT is seeking to appoint a band 6 practitioner, this is a well-established team with a wealth of experience. We are supportive and caring team, who will welcome a new team member with all they can bring to the team and what we offer.

We are seeking to appoint an individual that can demonstrate that they can offer a wide variety of experience to our team. As a Registered Nurse you will be responsible for supporting your team in ensuring that our service users' needs are met through the delivery of high-quality care.

As a centre of excellence, you will offer a person-centred approach to their independence and well-being. Patients present in AED with a wide range of mental health and psychological problems, including following an episode of self-harm, psychiatric emergency and as a consequence of physical illness.

Main duties of the job

You will be expected to work with individuals experiencing psychosomatic disorders and a variety of psychological and adjustment issues resulting from physical illness.

You will be required to make autonomous decisions, based on an analysis of complex presenting problems, while utilising effective clinical judgments about the most appropriate treatment, discharge and follow-up options.

You will use higher- level communication skills, both written and oral and have an ability to engage with challenging and/or acutely distressed individuals, sometimes in potentially hostile and/or antagonistic situations.

You will be supported by our band 7 practitioner when completing your assessment to enable you to jointly discuss and signpost appropriately and safely.

Another challenge is the role of liaison and working with different professionals and hospital trusts. Working between the acute trust and LSCFT is our day to day business. The team also receives referrals for patients who are from other areas of the country but within our hospital.
