Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Clinical Psychologist or Counselling Psychologist (HCPC or BABCP registered) who would like to seek post qualification experience in working within the community mental health setting.

The post-holder would be supported by the two consultant psychologists currently working into inpatient and community psychology services in the locality, and would work to establish close links with the Principal and Assistant Psychologist in the team, as well as supporting and supervising other psychological practitioners and psychological interventions. We are keen to develop a local psychology network in tandem with trust wide pathways of support, and the postholder would also work alongside the Personality Disorder and PSy

As well as having a clinical caseload, there will also be opportunities to develop and consolidate clinical and leadership skills, through indirect work, consultation, delivering training, and service development/audit activities. Where required, we will also support staff to develop competencies in clinical supervision, as part of their professional development plan. The trust is currently undertaking a programme of change in line with the national Community Mental Health Team Transformation Programme, and we would encourage the successful applicant to get involved in facilitating this process.

Main duties of the job

The core role will be to provide a specialist psychological assessment, formulation and intervention with adults with moderate to severe mental health problems. We support our staff to deliver high quality and innovative psychological solutions with service-users through consultation, individual, and group work, and we are keen to expand psychological leadership in the teams to develop the use of formulation and reflective practice.

If you would like to discuss these roles or have suggestions or questions, feel free to get in touch with me on christiaan.morgan@lscft.nhs.uk. I am currently working across the Fylde Coast, Lancaster & Morecambe but spent a number of years working as Principal Psychologist in this team, so I would be happy to discuss informally and can provide a valuable insight into the role.
