Job summary

We are excited to recruit to a Consultant Clinical Psychologist post to lead the provision of psychological input across three Children and Young People's Mental Health (CYPMH) Services. The post holder will also have protected time providing leadership into the CYP-Improving Access to Psychological Therapy (IAPT) programme. Successful candidates will be expected to set direction, provide clinical leadership and supervision for the psychologists, CBT therapists and a Family Therapist in the teams, and provide specialist psychological expertise into the wider multi-disciplinary CYPMH service. With respect to the CYP-IAPT programme, the post holder will provide clinical leadership, liaise between the CYPMH services and the IAPT course provider, manage internal and external supervision arrangements, and grow the programme through managing expressions of interest and liaison with Health Education England (HEE).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have a track record of leadership skills, expertise in at least one model of intervention, and have specific interest in one of the following domains: neuro-diversity; emerging personality problems/developmental Elltrauma; and psychosis. The post-holder will be expected to develop the research and clinical approaches to one of these domains across the Trust, sharing expertise with practitioners from other localities. This opportunity comes at an exciting time for the service where psychology is taking a lead role in redesign and transformation, hence candidates should also be able to demonstrate experience in service development.

Essential

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Doctoral level knowledge of clinical psychology including highly developed knowledge of lifespan developmental psychology, models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology and two or more distinct psychological therapies.
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical psychology
  • Knowledge of legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to the client group and mental health.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS by completion of CPD log demonstrating a minimum of 40 hours per year.

  • Evidence of substantial post-qualification experience within specialty

  • Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care co-ordinator and also within the context of multi-disciplinary care plan.
  • Experience of teaching, training and professional and clinical supervision.
  • Demonstrable experience of conducting complex audit, research and service evaluation
