Job summary

We are the local Talking Therapy service offering 1:1 therapy as well as group work and online therapy.

We are looking for a dynamic, hardworking and enthusiastic individual with the appropriate training, skills and experience to offer counselling. If you think this is you, do please apply!

Our team at Blackburn with Darwen Mindsmatter consists of a close team of PWPs, Counsellors and CBT therapists who work collaboratively to deliver the best service and outcomes for clients. We pride ourselves on the work we do.

We work in integrative ways and have strong links with specialist services, enhancing client care as we strive to ensure that clients receive the right treatment for their need.

Main duties of the job

To provide high quality primary care counselling services to adults with common mental health problems., including those with a degree of complexity.

To work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of Trust and local policies and procedure.

To deliver a counselling service in accordance with NICE guidelines, within agreed activity levels and model, meeting required key performance indicators (KPIs).

To provide advice and consultation on client's care, to non-counselling colleagues and to non-professional carers.

To promote wellbeing and social inclusion.

To work flexibly and in accordance with service demands.

To work to the agreed number of clinical contacts per week as set by the Team Manager.

Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Completion of a British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy accredited counselling course at diploma level
  • Have Registered status with BACP
  • Evidence of working towards accreditation with British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (and a commitment to achieve this within 12 months of commencement of the post)

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of NHS structures and policy within a primary care context.
  • Knowledge of the IAPT model
  • Clinical and theoretical knowledge of more than 1 model of counselling.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of psychological work with common mental health problems and primary care counselling work.
  • Experience of short term time-limited counselling
  • Evidence of regular supervised practice.
