Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a speech and language therapy assistant to join our Children's Therapy Service working in our West Lancashire team. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and forward thinking assistant, who has experience of working with children with communication difficulties and is looking for their next challenge.

We have sound professional structures in place to lead and inspire our workforce. The Children's Therapy Service is a community service that is commissioned for ages 0-19. The team comprises of Speech and language therapy, Occupational therapy and Physiotherapy, which makes up a team of 20 therapists and assistants.

We work closely with colleagues in health, education and social care to provide a child-centred service. We work in a variety of community settings including special and mainstream schools, clinics, and nurseries. We have well-developed evidenced based pathways covering the needs of children with communication and social needs.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work alongside families and other professionals in delivering therapy programmes to children of a range of ages and with a range of communication needs under the supervision of our qualified speech and language therapists. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and effectively manage their own time. The role includes being able to work independently and ability to manage a delegated caseload, with support available as appropriate. The role also includes administrative and organisational tasks to support the team.

We have a strong clinical and professional leadership team who are invested in supporting and developing staff. We offer clinical and management supervision, specialist support from experienced senior staff, continuing professional development and specialist SLT Forums. We support the Trust's commitment towards staff well-being.

You will be well supported by our friendly therapists and assistants. There are opportunities for continuing development with access to in-service training, regular supervision and peer support.

Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
