Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic, friendly, and approachable individual to join a dynamic and efficient library team. You will be assisting in the delivery of a quality library and knowledge service based at the Lantern Centre, Fulwood, Preston.

This role supports the day-to-day delivery of the library services including answering user's enquiries and supporting staff and students with their information and learning needs.

The ideal candidate will have a high standard of customer service skills, effective prioritising, organisational and communication skills as well as excellent IT skills. The ability to learn quickly and the willingness to continually update their skills and knowledge is required.

Main duties of the job

Provide information and training in the use of Internet resources and database searching skills as required by all levels of the Trust. Not related to lit searches

Communicate with other libraries and external agencies by phone, post or e-mail as appropriate.

Be involved in the day-to-day administration of Trust library services and procedures. These include document delivery, enquiries, registration of library users and circulation of library material.

Assist the Library & Information Services Manager in developing policies for the library service and contribute to the continuous evaluation of services and development of new services.

Develop professionally by attending relevant training events, reading professional literature and attending relevant meetings.
