Job summary

Fixed Term Position - 24 Months

We are looking for a Senior Employment Advisor to be part of the Talking Therapies Employment Advisor Programme which currently has a 2 year fixed term vacancy and is part of a 5 year initiative.

The principle aim of the initiative has been to create a culture of prevention and early intervention, to make sure that people get timely access to health support and suitable employment support so that they avoid long term unemployment. The integrated Employment Advisor service promotes the link between being in work and achieving improved health outcomes. We have strong links with local GPs, secondary care mental health services and voluntary sector providers. The post holder will be based within the recruitment locality.

Main duties of the job

This role will involve working closely with Counsellors, CBT Therapists and Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners who provide psychological therapies to people with common mental health problems. The post holder will supervise a team of up to 6 Employment Advisors who will offer support to service users with common mental health problems to gain, return to or retain employment. The role will involve working directly with Job Centre Plus, employers, trade unions and employment agencies to keep people in employment and secure employment opportunities.

The Senior Employment Adviser (SEA) is responsible for managing up to 6 Employment Advisers (EA's) as well as ensuring the effective delivery of all work focused and non-work focused interventions by ensuring effective leadership and management.

The SEA will be accountable and responsible for the professionalism of the EA's, ensuring they provide a personalised service to service users. They will give EA's the confidence to use the flexibilities available to them, recognising innovation and supporting EA's to help service users to either find, return or remain in work.

The SEA will conduct regular case supervision and management supervision with each EA and use their wide knowledge and experience to support EAs with specific employment related difficulties and provide advice and guidance to reach an appropriate outcome for the service user.
