We are looking for an experienced, innovative and enthusiastic clinical psychologist or a newly qualified clinical psychologist who has accredited training to a post graduate level or equivalent, currently registered with HCPC, to work within a busy and well respected Community Learning Disability service. This post is to be based with the Chorley & South Ribble team but there is an expectation that the successful applicant will work across the Central Lancashire Locality. Previous experience of working with adults with learning disabilities is essential.
Whilst this position is advertised at an 8A banding, we are also willing to offer a preceptorship/development post for newly qualified or those with less than 2 years qualified experience. Hence we would encourage you to contact us to discuss this further if you are interested.
Main duties of the job
Working closely with colleagues from a variety of professional backgrounds you will make a major contribution to the team and take a clinical lead role. You will be expected to provide psychological assessment and intervention in a variety of settings and provide consultation, training and supervision to the wider MDT on the psychological care of adults with a learning disability. There may also be opportunities for service related research and development
You will receive regular clinical & professional supervision from a Clinical Psychologist and you will also benefit from being a member of the Learning Disability Psychology Specialty as well as the wider Psychological Professions Community within LSCFT.
There are excellent links with the North West clinical psychology training courses in Lancaster, Manchester and Liverpool.

- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the British Psychological Society.
- HCPC registered as a Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical).

Essential
- An increased level of knowledge relevant to this post equivalent to a post-graduate diploma (in addition to entry level qualification)
- Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
- Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS by completion of CPD log demonstrating a minimum of 40 hours per year.
