Fylde Coast Lancashire Inpatient Services are seeking a forward thinking Consultant Psychologist to apply for an exciting opportunity. The successful candidate will be part of an evolving service that has the needs of our service users at its heart.
Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area. Specialist provision comprises inpatient child and adolescent mental health services, perinatal mental health and forensic services including low and medium secure care.
The Trust also provides a range of physical health and well-being services in the community alongside a range of partners in the Lancashire. The Trust employs approximately 7,000 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and has proven clinical leadership skills to provide and support the delivery of high quality psychological care to achieve rehabilitation and recovery goals. Your key role will be to ensure high quality clinical standards are achieved consistently by providing inspirational and visible clinical input to improve outcomes for patients. You will lead the inpatient psychology team which currently includes a Clinical Psychologist (Band 8a) and two Psychology Assistants.
You must have excellent communication skills, and a good working knowledge and understanding of rehabilitation and adult/older adult mental health and the needs of individuals in this group. You will promote and maintain high standards of care whilst supporting and assisting to implement local and national strategies and initiatives. You will need to possess excellent interpersonal skills, have leadership and staff development skills. A strong commitment to your ongoing professional education and development is essential.
The successful post holder will be expected be flexible where needed to meet the needs of patients and the service.

- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
- HCPC registered as a practitioner psychologist (clinical).
- Eligibility for consultant clinical psychologist appointment approval from external BPS assessor.
Knowledge

- Doctoral level knowledge of clinical psychology, including highly developed knowledge of lifespan developmental psychology, models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology and two or more distinct psychological therapies

- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibilities for clients' psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care-coordinator and also within the context of a multi-disciplinary care plan.
