Job summary

A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen within the Fylde Older Adult CMHT.

We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, skilled and compassionate specialist psychological therapist with a genuine interest in older adult mental health to provide interventions to older adults with moderate to severe mental health difficulties

This post is fixed term for a period of 12 months due to maternity cover.

The team specialises in working with individuals aged 65 and over with severe and enduring mental health problems and people with complex needs associated with dementia of any age.

Main duties of the job

This position is open to applicants who are specialist psychological therapists

The applicant must have excellent clinical skills, and demonstrate an ability to complete comprehensive mental state and risk assessments.

You will provide a qualified specialist assessment and therapy service to older adults.

You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team and will provide advice and consultation on client's psychological care

You will work within the policies, procedures and protocols for the service.

You will provide support and supervision for the team on psychological approaches to working with older adults.

You will work alongside the team's existing clinical psychologist, and be linked in with the wider older adult psychology network.

Essential

  • Doctoral level or equivalent training in clinical/counselling/health psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, as accredited by the BPS.
  • OR Core professional qualification and significant experience together with a postgraduate diploma in CBT

  • Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised therapeutic intervention.
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health; knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
  • Skills in the use of specialist methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
