We are looking to recruit a Specialty Doctor to join the Older Adult Psychiatry team working in Ormskirk. The post is based at Brookside and you would provide support to the Memory Assessment Service (MAS) as well as the Integrated Community Mental Health Team. This is a full time (10PA) and permanent post.

Main duties of the job

The clinical component of the post is focussed on the care of the patients referred to the Memory Assessment Services and Integrated Community Mental Health Team with work base at Brookside in Ormskirk.

Clinical input to the Memory Assessment Service will include memory assessments (3 new patients per session) as well as providing clinical supervision to the team. The role will involve assessment and diagnosis of patients referred for cognitive impairment. The follow-up assessments are being done in titration and monitoring clinics run by Nurse Practitioners/support staff.

For the Community Mental Health Team the post holder shall provide clinical input and support to the Consultants within the team, including providing supervision to the team and doing domiciliary visits including care home visits. The post holder will collaborate with community team members to ensure an emergency response is available as necessary during normal working hours to services for the locality

There may be an opportunity to join the 2nd On Call rota, which would be remunerated with an additional payment.

About us

Potential applicants must possess at least 3 years' experience in psychiatry and be fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice. Ideally, you will be Section 12 Approved, or eligible for approval at the time of commencing employment.

Remuneration will be as set out in the terms of the New Specialty Doctor Contract according to previous experience, based on Ten Programmed Activities (PAs) per week.
