This post offers an exciting opportunity to join the newly commissioned Forensic Autism Service across Lancashire & South Cumbria.
The successful applicant will be working as part of the leadership team providing expert advice, support and clinical leadership to adults over 16 with autism and who have forensic risk.
You will provide specialist interventions for people referred to the service to access primary and secondary health care as appropriate.
You will be responsible for the maintenance of high levels of evidence-based clinical practice, contributing to and facilitating Care Processes and Pathways.
You will manage and supervise the work of others, and act as a mentor and preceptor.
The ability to work independently as well as within a team will also be required.
Candidates will need to be IT literate and have experience using digital clinical records, as well as the desire to explore new ways of engaging with stakeholders using technology.
The candidate will also be required to work with multiple agencies and service providers across Lancashire & South Cumrbia which will require excellent communication skills.
Main duties of the job
The Forensic Autism service, sits within the Specialist Service Network, and provides case management to Adults 16years plus who have a primary diagnosis of Autism and a forensic risk. The service will work with those identified across Lancashire & South Cumbria.
Key Responsibilities
- Member of the multi-disciplinary team and active participation in team meetings.
- Have a key role in working with a wide range of health professionals and other partners and agencies to reduce health inequalities and promote access to mainstream health services
- Work as partners with individuals and their families, providing advice and support, anticipating health needs, promoting self-care and enabling people to be as independent and involved as possible
- Represent the service and or individual service users at multi-disciplinary meetings, taking a lead role where appropriate
- Communicate often complex information effectively to service users and carers, using alternative methods of communication where appropriate, to maximise treatment potential, whilst ensuring an understanding of risk and benefits of assessment and treatment / interventions.
- Provide advice and teaching to service users, their family and carers, health professionals within the team and LSCFT and the wider health community, public, voluntary and private agencies.
- Share information effectively and concisely for a range of situations and contexts to ensure safety and continuity of care
