Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join the Burnley CMHT in a new and unique role

The successful applicant will be dynamic and forward thinking and be passionate about ensuring that those who are unable to seek help via traditional means due to their life circumstances which could include substance misuse, homelessness and vulnerabilities are supported to do so.. You will need to have excellent communication and organisational skills as the role requires the successful candidate to work from a variety of non-NHS premises which could include religious establishments, voluntary and 3rd sector premises. The successful applicant will need to be competent and confident in risk assessment/management and will need the ability to be able to respond promptly in a timely manner to the changing needs of the service users. They will also be able to work independently and autonomously as well as being committed to supporting a Multi-Disciplinary Team Approach (MDT).

Main duties of the job

  1. To undertake mental health assessments in a variety of settings within the community with particular emphasis on providing signposting, listening and advice to vulnerable people who access/attend non-NHS premises such as churches, community centres and voluntary organisations
  2. To be proficient in referring to other clinicians within the service or referring to other services/agencies where necessary.
  3. To provide a fast, responsive service to assess individuals needs for access into mental health services
  4. Providing a communication structure between GPs , IAPT and secondary MH services in LSCFT, non-statutory service to ensure the highest possible standards of patient care
  5. To provide mentoring support to others.

Knowledge
