Job summary

We require a motivated and dynamic Modern Matron to join our growing mental health rehabilitation services to be part of our Core Community Rehabilitation Team and moving on rehabilitation unit in based in Wesham within Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT)

The post will be based at our new Wesham Rehabilitation Centre, working across our rehabilitation pathway.

This facility is a standalone unit, it is a 28 bedded (14 male / 14 female) Community rehabilitation unit within Lancashire & South Cumbria Foundation Trust (LSCFT). It has the ability to accommodate service users detained under the MHA, with a length of stay 12 to 18 months.

The Wesham Rehabilitation unit treats people with complex needs and behaviours associated with severe mental illness. The service focuses on facilitating further recovery, managing medication (self-medication), psychosocial interventions (CBT, family work), gaining skills for more independent living including activities of daily living (ADLs) and community activities (leisure, vocational).

The Multi-Disciplinary Team consists of experienced staff providing quality, evidenced based care in conjunction with the individual, carers, family, significant other/ advocate. This is delivered in a therapeutic environment conducive to the service user group, maintaining all health and safety standards.

Main duties of the job

The current workforce model consists of Consultant Psychiatrist, speciality Dr, Registered MH nurses, Occupational therpists, clinical psycholgists, assistant psychologist, pharmasist, pharmacy technician, health & well being worker, training nurse associates, peer support workers, MH Act administrators and administration.

As part of the Integrated Primary and Community Mental Health Transformation, LSCFT is focusing on one of the key components of the new Community Mental Health Model, Community Rehabilitation. An effective rehabilitation service requires a managed functional network of services across a wide spectrum of care including community rehabilitation teams.

The first element of an exciting transformation programme is the introduction of a core team who will act as the drivers for the ongoing developments in LSCFTs community rehabilitation services.

In this role, you will be expected to provide direct input, both individual and group, and consultation.
