Job summary

Liaison & Diversion Practitioner:

Essential: A minimum of NVQ Level 3 in relevant subject OR Diploma in Health and Social Care AND/OR Experience of working with people with complex needs for a minimum of 2 years

Desirable: Professional recognised qualification such as RMN, Learning Disability Nurse, Social Worker, and Occupational Therapist. Psychology Degree CBT Diploma, Substance Misuse Diploma

An opportunity has arisen within the Cumbria Lancashire Liaison and Diversion Team for the role of Liaison & Diversion Practitioner based at Carlisle Police Station

This key position of Liaison & Diversion Practitioner within the established Liaison and Diversion Service for Custody suites and Magistrates Courts will be offered as a full time, substantive post.

Main duties of the job

The Liaison and Diversion Team seek to deliver an effective service based upon collaboration and partnership working between local mental health services, learning disability services, local authority, third sector agencies and criminal justice agencies.

The L&D team work within the criminal justice pathway, providing assessment, liaison, referral and guidance for persons (from the age of 10yrs) who have come to the attention of the Criminal Justice Agencies within Police Custody, including Voluntary Attendees and Courts.

As the 'All Age, All Vulnerability' model is increasingly embedded in Police Custody and Court settings, referrals have increased Year on year.

The role is intended to support the improvement and development of services in keeping with the National Model of Liaison & Diversion

Important: This post is requires successful candidates to undergo Level 2 (full) Vetting from the respective constabulary from which you will be working, of which clearance is essential in order to fulfil the role.
