Job summary
The Consultant Nurse will be responsible for leading and developing a person-centred, evidenced based practice and for setting, maintaining and developing professional standards for nurses within in-patient and/or community services. The Consultant Nurse will hold a clinical caseload of service users with highly complex needs and work as an autonomous practitioner providing advanced expert clinical nursing practice. Additionally the Consultant Nurse will develop educational and research programmes to support clinical practice both within the locality and across the Trust. The Consultant Nurse will lead on specific emerging clinical practice across the Trust as well as promoting research and ensuring high standards of Nursing and Professional Practice within in-patient and/or community services.
Main duties of the job
As part of our journey of quality improvement we are committed to developing an extended clinical career pathway for nursing from entry level through to Consultant Nurse; extending the scope of practice within nursing to a highly skilled and advanced level. Joining a Trust wide team of nearly 20 consultant nurses we are seeking to recruit another skilled nurse consultant to join our Specialist Network and work across our community Child and Adolescent Learning Disability Teams.
The CYP Learning Disability consultant nurse will work alongside a team of existing Adult Learning Disability Consultant Nurses and will be responsible for leading and developing person-centred, evidenced based practice and for setting, maintaining and developing professional standards for nurses within CYP LD community services. They will hold a clinical caseload of service users with highly complex needs and work as an autonomous practitioner providing advanced expert clinical nursing practice.
This role aligns to the four pillars of Advanced Practice with a minimum of 50% of the role being clinical. The remaining 3 pillars will make up the professional elements of the role, with the Consultant Nurse supporting our Network Director of Nursing in advancing nursing practice and delivering professional leadership within the Specialist Network.
