Due to additional funds, we have a really exciting opportunity for a Principal Clinical Psychologist to join our perinatal service. You would work closely with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Service Manager and Senior Leadership Team to continue to shape and deliver our psychology and therapy pathways throughout the service.

You would be based in either Chorley or Blackburn, but would be expected to travel across the service footprint. You would join a committed and supportive psychology/therapies team and be part of a compassionate Senior Leadership Team who strongly value psychology.

As Principal Clinical Psychologist and Deputy Psychology and Therapy Lead, you will have the opportunity to influence clinical care at every level, from holding a varied clinical caseload, through to service development and quality improvement work. Main duties of the job

The principal purpose of this job is to improve the psychological health and wellbeing of mothers who have complex mental health needs in the perinatal period; and their babies. This will be achieved in this post through undertaking the following areas of responsibility:

  1. To work with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Senior Leadership Team to ensure the systematic provision of a high quality psychological service in the Specialist Perinatal Service.
  2. To carry a caseload of clients, providing psychological assessment, formulation and intervention.
  3. To provide supervision and consultation for staff and trainees employed by the Specialist Perinatal Service.
  4. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within professional and Trust guidelines.
  5. To observe, and abide by, all relevant professional codes of conduct and practice. The post holder will be fully registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a practitioner psychologist.
