Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join secure services as a Ward Manager. Working to deliver Secure Mental Health Care to the highest possible standard, applications are invited from experienced nurses to take on the challenging role of Ward Manager.

Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust is a Community and Mental Health Trust whose services include mental health and substance misuse services to the residents of Lancashire and South Cumbria. The Trust also provides low and medium secure care and forensic services.

Secure Mental Health Care for Lancashire and South Cumbria is provided at Guild Lodge, Whittingham. The service has steadily expanded from it's inception in 1999 and currently has a range of inpatient and community services including 164 beds.

Each of the services has their own model of care and provides bespoke training in addition to the comprehensive Trust and site Induction.

We currently require nurses with at least 12 months experience at Band 6 who have recent, significant experience of working within an inpatient mental healthcare setting. All applicants must have an interest and skills in psychological approaches to working with clients and have a commitment to working collaboratively with clients who may present challenges for engagement

Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for line managing and supervising a team of nurses and is directly responsible for the clinical and financial performance of a defined clinical area.

The post holder is also required to ensure the effective management of sickness and absence, leave allocation, disciplinary investigations, complaints and local post incident reviews.
