Job summary

The post holder will work as a senior member of the service to assist in providing clinical leadership and strategic service development to the clinical teams and services within the business unit. The post holder will work closely with other senior clinical and managerial staff within the locality/specialty area to provide a psychological perspective to service planning, service development and clinical service transformation across the locality/specialty area.

The post holder will be expected to lead on a designated area of psychological development, governance or implementation across the network e.g. the development and embedding of Psychologically Informed Interventions. It is also expected that the post-holder will retain a small caseload and provide a specialist clinical role within the psychological service team where they are based

Main duties of the job

We are recruiting to a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Lead for Inpatient Psychology Services at Guild Lodge. An experienced candidate is required to provide psychological leadership and clinical supervision into the inpatient psychology service, and to work closely with their counterpart in the community service to ensure continuity in the application of psychological input across the transition.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate a range and depth of experience of working in secure care, including expertise in risk assessment and formulation, management of personality disorder, interventions for psychosis, accreditation in at least one model of a relevant therapy, and a track record of delivering supervision and other aspects of clinical leadership to psychology and non-psychology staff.

This opportunity comes at an exciting time for the service where psychology is taking a lead role in redesign and transformation, hence candidates should also be able to demonstrate experience in service development.

  • Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or the equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, specifically including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.

Experience

  • Substantial post qualification experience including experience within the designated specialty/type of service Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups across the whole life course, in various settings including outpatient, community, primary care inpatient and residential care settings. Also including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and threats of physical abuse. Experience of exercising full clinical responsibilities for clients' psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care-coordinator and also within the context of a multi-disciplinary care plan. Experience of providing a range of complex psychological assessment and interventions using information derived from a variety of sources and requiring highly developed analytic and interpretative skills Experience of working within environments involving exposure to significant professional, clinical and ethical challenges Experience of effective multi-agency and disciplinary team working and networking Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision.
