Job summary
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and accredited (BABCP/ACAT/HCPC) practitioners with the experience, skills and competencies to undertake the duties and responsibilities of the above post in an adult mental health speciality. The post is primarily to provide assessment, psychological therapy and consultation for the care of Service Users within two (co-located) CMHTs, which serve the communities of Pendle and Burnley.
The teams provide services to people with complex mental health needs. Psychological therapies and psychologically informed care are valued within the teams and network, and are fully integrated within mainstream adult mental health services. The post holder will operationally managed within the teams as a core team member, while strong professional leadership works alongside operational management to support the role.
An interest in working with individuals experiencing significant levels of complexity and personality difficulties and good multi-disciplinary team working skills are essential. Skills in group approaches, or an interest in developing these, would be an asset.
The successful candidate will provide psychological interventions via individual therapeutic interventions and group formats by assisting in the facilitation of the team's menu of group therapies. They will contribute to team formulations, multi-disciplinary care and discharge planning, supervision of members of the CMHTs and input to the teams' referral meetings.
Main duties of the job
To provide a Clinical Psychology Service to patients of the Blackburn with Darwen Community Mental Health Teams including the provision of specialist psychological assessment and therapy, working within the policies, procedures and protocols applicable to the service.
To offer advice and consultation on patients' psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues and to other, non-professional carers, working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the services policies and procedures. To develop skills in consultancy by consulting informally to multi-disciplinary team colleagues under supervision. To participate to an extent commensurate with the level of knowledge, skills and experience of a newly or recently qualified Clinical Psychologist, in formal systems of consultancy within the nominated team(s). [As a band 7 therapist you are not expected to be responsible for a formal system of psychological consultancy within your team(s), but are expected to contribute to and learn from the operation of such of system, in collaboration with more senior professional colleagues].
To utilise research skills for audit, policy and service development and research within the area in which the postholder works.
