Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and ambitious Community Mental Health Nurse looking for their next challenge.

The Rapid Intervention and Treatment Team supports patients predominantly aged over 65 years who may be experiencing a Functional or Dementia type illness. The team offer short term interventions and crisis support. The role involves working within the Initial Response Services on a rotation basis. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will require a blend of excellent clinical and management skills and be supportive to all team members at all levels, have excellent interpersonal skills, time management skills and enthusiasm for working in an ever-developing busy environment.

  • Recognised Core Mental Health Professional Qualification (e.g. RMN/Dip SW/OT)

Knowledge

Essential

  • In-depth knowledge of mental health problems
  • In-depth knowledge of issues that impact upon people with mental health problems
  • Detailed knowledge of the impact of risk and protective factors that affect people with mental health problems
  • Knowledge of medication prescribed for management of mental health issues
  • Knowledge of current mental health legislation/policy, including CPA, IAPT, NSF etc...

Experience

Essential

  • A minimum of 2 years post qualification clinical work with service users experiencing a range of mental health problems
  • Experience of delivering evidence based interventions in a time-limited framework
  • Evidence of assessment across a broad range of mental health problems
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Experience of risk assessment and management
  • Experience of multi-agency working.
