Job summary

The Moving Well Community Pain Team are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and motivated Physiotherapist or Osteopath to join our fabulous team! The ethos of our service is improving quality of life holistically despite living with persistent pain.

We provide a high quality multi-disciplinary service over a wide geographical area in Central Lancashire with a variety of clinics across the region.

The role will involve providing triage, comprehensive assessments, diagnosis and appropriate interventions to assist the self-management of people living with persistent pain. There is a requirement for effective communication skills in the management of complex situations. Close working with members of the Pain Team is pivotal to the role.

The post offers an exciting opportunity to work within a team includingphysiotherapy, psychology, occupational therapy, nurse specialists, pain consultants, pharmacist and administrative support and would be ideal for someone seeking to assist patients living with persistent pain.There will be opportunities for close interdisciplinary working and research and service development

Main duties of the job

  • To triage, educate, assess, diagnose and treat patients with persistent pain
  • To facilitate people to make sense of persistent pain conditions.
  • To manage a caseload of patients with persistent pain.
  • To work closely with physiotherapists and other disciplines to deliver individual, joint or group pain management treatment programmes.
  • To incorporate evidence based practice and provide patient focused care
  • To support members of staff to provide a specialist Pain Service to patient's with complex conditions.
  • To support and assist in developing the service to ensure it meets local and national standards
  • To work collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary and wider teams
  • To work autonomously
  • To provide support to the Clinical Lead and Team leader
  • The role entails 70 % clinical contact and 30 % Service development

You will be committed to you own professional development and be willing to access the support, training and supervision made available to you in this service. Line management supervision will be provided by the Team Leader. Clinical supervision will be provided by the Extended Scope Practitioner Pain Management. Professional supervision for Physiotherapists will be provided by the Extended scope physiotherapist pain management. Professional supervision for Osteopaths will be sourced and funded externally from the trust via the GOsC.

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy
  • Current professional registration with HPC as Physiotherapist and responsibility for maintaining this registration
  • Masters module/post grad qualification in relevant field of clinical expertise (or working towards) / post-grad qualification/equivalent knowledge & experience to masters level
  • Evidence of CPD in related field of clinical expertise.
  • Current accredited field work educator

Knowledge

  • Understanding of clinical governance framework and implications for practice including audit and research governance.
