We are looking for a therapist with a passion to make a difference to children and young people with diverse and complex needs. You will be encouraged to establish a primary specialism in the Neurological and Complex Needs pathways but will be able to adapt and transfer your skills across pathways.
The Children's Therapy Team in West Lancashire provides an excellent opportunity to work alongside dedicated professionals providing excellent high quality care to reduce the impact of disability to children and their families. You will become part of a team of occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech and language therapists, who work closely with colleagues in health, education and social care to provide a genuinely child-centred service.
Main duties of the job
We work in a variety of locations, including clinics, children's own homes,nurseries and schools and are based at the Child Development Centre in Ormskirk.
We work with children and young people aged 0- 19 with well-developed and evidenced based pathways covering the needs of children with Long Term, Time Limited and Early Years related needs. The Neurological and complex needs pathway focuses on functional outcomes for children 0-18 with long term conditions and involves the assessment of posture, equipment and adaptations as well as optimising functional developmental.
This is a new post in the team with opportunity for leadership in developing the local service and working with service users to strengthen and develop the local service. We can offer clinical and management supervision, specialist support by experienced senior staff, continuing professional development and specialist OT Forums. The Children's Integrated Therapy Team has a strong network of Clinical Leads and a Professional Lead for Children's OT.
The successful candidate must be able to effectivelymanage their own time, and demonstrate excellent communication skills.
