Job summary

We are delighted to be advertising this unique opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join ourexpanding and forward thinking Community Learning Disability Service, covering the Pennine ICP area of Lancashire and South Cumbria.

This is a permanent post within our team; the role will involve working as an Occupational Therapist, within our multi-disciplinary team, alongside Doctors, Nurses,Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Health Care Support Workers and our admin team.

The community learning disability teams exist to support service users with diagnosed learning disabilities; service users often have autism in addition to their learning disability. Occupational Therapists working in the community learning disability teams provide a service for people whose primary reason for referral relates to the effect of their learning disability upon their occupational performance.

Main duties of the job

With the restrictions in place around COVID, the role will include some face to face interventions in the community and service users own homes; as well as interventions via video/digital platforms. The ability to travel remains essential.

The role will require the delivery of a range of occupational therapy assessments, specific interventions, care planning and risk managing, with the support of the multi-disciplinary team. The role will also include supporting our existing care pathways and group delivery and working closely with our multi-disciplinary team. .

The Pennine Team operates from bases in Burnley, Accrington & Darwen. Our offices are staffed from 9am until 5pm Monday to Friday.

You will need to be innovative, compassionate and motivated, have a passion to deliver individualised, person centred care and can make a positive contribution to service development. This is an opportunity to join our Community Learning Disability Service as we continue to push forwards with the ambitious development of our services to meet the needs of local people. Support and interventions are delivered that promote independence and resilience, and deliver high quality outcomes for service users and carers.
